I would like to explain about the problems.
1. A lighter background color and font for the CNN Education news update window would be nice.
We will consider this issue.
2. Here is my two cents for your question of incorporating EVDB in your application, I would suggest you considering Dr. Sue's suggestion of getting the local university administrative members feedback and inputs about events, that would be a great value add !
That's very good idea however due to time constraint, we are not sure that we can implement it by the end of semester.
3. You have migrated from xml data source to MySQL database, does it prove to be any beneficial ?
It enables us to add the review feature, improve the speed and make it easier to manage our data.
5. I was trying to search for State -Michigan; keyword - EMU - search returned nothing, i remember you guys mentioning in class presentation about search field input restrictions. Would it be nice to bring up a user friendly message suggesting possible entries or so..
That is because it works separately. We think that there are not so many universities in michigan. The search field is used separately from the Dropdown list. Also, we did not keep the word "EMU" in our database. We keep only "Eastern Michigan University". Thank you for your suggestion. So you may search for "eastern" to get the list of all universities containing the work "eastern".
We will make the user guildline on the right panel clearer than before.
Also our application stil does not work well in Firefox. We will try to fix it.
6. On similar lines I tried State - Michigan; keyword - University - Firstly search took some time to retrieve and also refreshed page and then returned universities from Illinois and Chicago !!
That's because while the program was downloading the data, you chose another state. (maybe you scholl your mouse and it makes the dropdown list changed).
(This may also be the cross browser issue.)
7. To learn more about our Education ChUSer or to report any problems using this map, please Contact US - when i clicked on Contact US link - it throws an exception "Could not perform this operation because the default mail client is not properly installed."
That's just a fake email address and usually the email client should be configured properly. Actually I dont know how to fix. However we may change to be only text not the link.
8. I did add a review and wanted to view my review - when i click on the review icon, it would be nice if the page is focused down the review area, for i went on clicking thinking it never triggered.
We will try to do that.
